When a 400-year craft meets modern engineering.
Most lighting companies manufacture fixtures. We orchestrate legacies.
For the Hilton Hyderabad, we travelled to Etikoppaka — a village in Andhra Pradesh where artisans have been turning lacquerware on hand-spun wheels for four hundred years. The craft predates electricity itself. We were there to begin a conversation it had never had.
We sat with the master craftsman. We studied the exact wood. We defined the form — a sphere, turned on his lathe, finished in traditional lacquer, burnished by hands that have done this since childhood.
Then those spheres came to our workshop. And that is where the second craft began. Our engineers stripped every assumption about what a lacquered wooden ball could become. Inside each string, we engineered a precision DALI dimmable LED uplighter.
